When to Decant your Wine
Drinking wine has its rituals. There is no doubt about it! First comes the bottle preparation. Chilled or room temperature? Once it is at the proper temperature, it of course must be opened to be enjoyed. Opening a bottle of wine is sort of a ceremony. There is the removal of the label around the neck. Then the question of what cork removal device to use. Some folks like a “winged”...

Because...

Let's drink to your health!
There’s so much information out there about diet and your health; it’s hard to know what is real and what is just nonsense. Making it even harder, the “experts” often change their minds every few years. For example, we are told that eggs are good for us…then we are told they are bad…then we hear they are good again. The same is true with chocolate, fish,...

Wine Makes a Great Father's Day Gift
I got my Dad some nice wine for Father’s Day. He has expressed an interest in learning more about and trying some of the wines from the state of Washington. I am bringing some special varietals from Chateau St. Michele and Columbia -Crest. I also tossed in a wine called Rook which is a very tasty red blend from Washington. Finally, I’m bringing him a bottle of my favorite Cabernet,...
Break the Ice with Wine!
I moved recently and am slowly getting to know my new neighbors. Invariably, I get asked what I do and I tell them that I am a wine consultant for Wines and More in Wareham. I see their eyes light up (even if before they found me uninteresting), a big smile comes across their faces and they tell me about their favorite wines.
Wine has that effect on people. Whether it is the enjoyable taste,...

I don't drink (fill in the blank)
At least a couple of times a week, we have a customer who tells us that he or she “does not drink..(blank)”. You can fill in the blank in many ways. I don’t drink dry wines, I don’t drink sweet wines, I don’t drink wines with tannins, etc. The one that pains me the most is…I don’t drink red wines. As a matter of fact, sometimes when I hear this I will put...
